One of the peculiarities about corporate financial statements is that companies generally do not report fourth quarter income statements. They report data for the full year but very rarely do they report quarterly data on their income statement. For the first, second and third quarter they do typically report their income statement for that quarter as well as a year-to-date income statement (for the 2nd and 3rd quarter). This can require a bit of work by the analyst to compute the fourth quarter’s income statement through subtracting the third quarter year-to-date income statement from the annual income statement.
